Lenox adds a modern classic to its platinum-banded, fine bone china collection with Apropos, introduced in 2005. Like ripples on a pond, the white-on-white borders of Apropos appear to be in motion while the centers stay smooth and calm. A generous band of platinum trims the rim of each piece, while a thinner band outlines the inner border. The result is a very graceful dinnerware pattern with an intriguing frosted matte texture. Accent pieces show a bold black border with the same ripple effect.
This dainty six-inch plate complements Apropos dinnerware through any number of uses: as a bread-and-butter plate at dinner, for afternoon cookies with tea, and for appetizers at the cocktail hour. As with the larger plates, the ripple design decorates only the border of the lustrous china. More durable than most people realize, bone china is chip-resistant and dishwasher-safe; however, because platinum softens at high temperatures, washing by hand or using an air drying cycle is recommended.
